Negative feelings have received a bad reputation, especially with the New Age philosophy. However, all your feelings are important. Your "negative feelings" are there for a reason. They let you know that you need to pay attention to them and they may signal that something needs to be addressed in your life. It's a good idea to keep a journal of these feelings to better understand their meaning and significance. Accepting yourself means honoring all your feelings.

being kind

A good New Year Resolution is making the choice to be kind. Even when you have to confront someone it can be done kindly. Rather than being accusatory and demeaning you can tell the person you would appreciate if he or she acted differently. You ask for what you want and need rather than harping on what was done incorrectly. 

It takes practice and commitment to make the choice to be kind. It means choosing your battles and letting go of some complaints. However your relationships will improve.

It's valuable to take stock of your life at the beginning of the year and decide what you want to improve in 2015. It is possible to get too enthusiastic and decide that you want to make too many changes. Maybe it is better to get clear what you can realistically take on and only work on one or two issues. This strategy is more effective because it prevents a sense of failure. Changes are often difficult to make and require commitment and persistence.
